Trailway launched in December of 2014, brewing on a pieced together 120 Litre system in a basement. We had 6 plastic conical fermenters with 1 stainless steel bright tank, that was operated within an old glass-door showcase refrigerator. Our passion was hops and our vision was to share our aromatic and flavourful American style ales. We brewed and packaged, on average, 3 times per week, and sold 100% of our production to local pub accounts. The reception for our ales was more positive than we had ever expected, and before our first anniversary we had begun the paperwork to secure financing and expand production.
We secured a 4600 sq ft. space on the North side of Fredericton, and by March of 2016, after months of planning and construction, we had an operational 10 Barrel Brewhouse, along with four 10 Barrel Fermenters and one 10 Barrel Bright tank. Not long after, in May of 2016, we opened the doors to our attached tasting room. We sold our beer in pints, flights and growlers for on and off-site consumption. We quickly found out we did not have the capacity to supply the demand. Within 6 months of opening we expanded our fermentation capacity significantly by adding three 30 Barrel fermenters with a 30 Barrel bright tank. With this increased production we were able to add an automatic canning line and began supplying the majority of the province with cans of our core beers.
More recently, in June of 2018, we expanded capacity again, adding three more 30 Barrel fermenters, but selling off two 10 Barrel fermenters in the process. We continue to grow as a brewery, entering new markets and expanding our brew repertoire - October of 2018 marked our first batch through our newly acquired coolship. Our barrel aged sour program is well underway and we expect our first bottle releases to occur in early 2019.
